Waka residents will now have to travel to nearby Farnsworth to get their mail.
Although Farnsworth is just roughly five miles away, some Waka residents are upset. Upset at both losing their post office, and for losing what it represents.
"We lost our school in 1990, so that was a hard hit, you lose a lot of your community," said Waka resident Michael Ladd. "But when you lose your post office you have no more identity as a community."
The PO boxes in Waka will be moved to Farnsworth this weekend at no fee to customers, and the USPS says they'll be able to keep their current mailing addresses.
Right now there are 43 postal customers in Waka.
Officials say if you still have questions, contact the Farnsworth Postmaster.
