Update: Suspect Identified, Arrested After Standoff

UPDATE -- At 5 p.m. Amarillo Police were called out to a domestic disturbance in the 5900 block of Winkler. 

When Officers arrived, they were advised that Robert Lingerfelt, 59, was armed with a gun. 

Four officers went to the back of the house and entered the garage to make contact with Lingerfelt who was still inside. Lingerfelt came to a door and opened it; he had a pistol in his hand and pointed it at the officers. 

Two officers fired their weapons at Lingerfelt and he retreated into the house and refused to come outside. 

The SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiators were called to the scene because Lingerfelt barricading himself inside. 

At 8:15 p.m., Lingerfelt was taken into custody by SWAT officers in the front yard of the house. 

Lingerfelt was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Lingerfelt was booked into jail at the Randall County Sheriffs Office on four counts of Aggravated Assault against a Peace Officer. 
AMARILLO --  Police are on the scene of a shooting, and now have a man in custody in southwest Amarillo.

Cpl. Jerry Neufeld with the Amarillo Police Department, tells our crew on the scene that it all started with a domestic dispute. Shots were fired and someone called police, and an armed man ran into a home on the 5900 block of Winkler.

The SWAT team is on the scene, and a mobile command unit has been set up.

Shots were also fired moments ago, but a suspect is now in custody.

Streets are blocked off around that area, and several homes were evacuated according to Nixle alerts.
