UPDATE: Friday Night Stabbing Victim and Alleged Suspect Identified

AMARILLO - Update: 

On January 12th at 9:41 pm, Amarillo Police Department (APD) officers were called to 107 N Fairmont Street on a female that had been stabbed. 

Officers arrived at 9:43 pm and the suspect had left the scene. The officers found Haley Sue Green, a 22-year-old female, in the residence suffering from stab wounds. 

Green died at the scene. 

While officers were at this residence a call of a possible burglary in progress went out in the 300 block of Bellview. 

Patrol and K-9 officers, along with the DPS helicopter responded to that area. 

Mark Christopher Ahrens, a 32-year-old male, was located in a yard. Ahrens immediately ran from officers but was caught. Ahrens resisted arrest. Ahrens was taken into custody and was identified as the suspect in the homicide.

Ahrens was placed under arrest for alleged Murder, Evading Arrest or Detention and Assault on a Public Servant. 

He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center. 
An autopsy that will be performed Monday morning in Lubbock.
