UPDATE: DPS Standoff Suspect Identified

UPDATE 5 P.M. -- The driver, Michael Reynard Ezell Jr., 40, from Desoto was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Texas Rangers are currently investigating the incident.

UPDATE 12:04 P.M. -- The stand-off has ended.

DPS has reopened EB US 287 between Amarillo and Claude, but WB US 287 is still being rerouted to FM 2373, north to I-40.


UPDATE 11:40 A.M.
-- Deputies from Armstrong, Potter, Carson, and Donley County on scene.

DPS negotiators are on scene.

Officials were first called out just before 10 a.m. to westbound US 287.

Officials do confirm that the Man is out of Williamson County.

AMARILLO -- The Texas DPS in Armstrong County is urging motorists on US 287 northbound and southbound to avoid the area near Wasburn, between Amarillo and Claude. 

DPS troopers are in a stand-off with an armed suspect near FM 2373 and US 287. 

If you need to travel on US 287 in that area, be prepared to be directed to an alternate route and to follow DPS instructions.
