Update: Bushland Neighborhood Returning After Pipeline Leak

- AMARILLO -- Potter County Sheriff's Department evacuated residents of the Prairie West neighborhood just after 6 a.m. in Bushland after a pipeline leak.

Just before 7, officials lifted the evacuation notice.

Atmos Energy Officials say lightning struck a control tower in the area, which caused an escape valve to open up.

Residents were told to move to the middle school gym as the evacuation point.

Gas has been shut off at the Bushland station, but Atmos Energy says gas is being re-routed to Bushland from other stations in Amarillo, while they work to fix the system.
