AMARILLO -- In the first two days of The United Family fundraising campaign to support relief efforts for victims of the fire in the Sanford-Fritch area, Amarillo store guests contributed a total of $27,726 to the cause. The United Family™ has matched the first $10,000 donated by store guests, bringing the two-day total to $37,726.

Guests show their support through May 28 at all Amarillo-area United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos and United Express locations by adding a donation of $1 or more to their grocery bill during checkout.

Proceeds earmarked to the relief effort go to The Salvation Army and American Red Cross.

The Borger United, which is the one closest to the fire area, also has contributed products to help feed the victims, and is coordinating with Hutchinson County United Way to help meet other needs.
