Two Dead Following Wreck in Gray County

GRAY COUNTY - ((PRESS RELEASE))

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a two-vehicle crash Sunday on SH-70 in Gray County, resulting in the death of two people.

At approximately 11:16 p.m., Curtis Rogers, 54, of Pampa, was driving a 2002 GMC Sierra north on SH-70 approximately 15 miles south of Pampa. Michael Brodowy, 40, of Amarillo was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado south on SH-70.  Rogers crossed over the center stripe into the southbound lane and collided into the front left area of the Chevrolet driven by Brodowy. The Chevrolet caught fire with Brodowy inside. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Brodowy was pronounced dead on scene by Gray County Justice of the Peace, Joe Martinez.

Rogers was transported to the hospital in Pampa where he died from his injuries.

The three passenger’s in the Chevrolet, that caught fire, were able to get out of the vehicle.  The passengers, identified as 41-year-old Saw Htoo, 36-year-old Maung Aye, and a 10-year-old female, all of Pampa, were transported to the hospital in Pampa with serious injuries.

Brodowy and Rogers were both wearing seat belts.

It is unknown if the three passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.

 

The crash is still under investigation.
