Two Arrested After Alleged Burglary, Short Chase

AMARILLO - Two people are arrested after an afternoon burglary ends with a chase.

On February 11, just after 5 p.m., Potter County officials were called to the 11700 block of Whitewing Drive.

Officials said that is where they found Harley Whisenhunt, 23, and Mikel Mclemore, 26, breaking into outbuildings.

As deputies approached the area, they say both subjects fled the scene in a vehicle leading officers on a short chase.

APD officers used spike strips to slow the vehicle down, before it eventually came to a stop and caught fire on Loop 335.

Officials said Whisenhunt and Mclemore fled from the vehicle into a nearby neighborhood and were both captured shortly after.

Items from the burglary were recovered at the scene.

Both were arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on charges of Burglary of a Building, Evading with a Motor Vehicle, and Evading Arrest or Detention.
