Tucumcari Teen Guilty of Murder
By Sheryl Proctor
TUCUMCARI -- A Tucumcari teen pleads guilty to killing two family members back in 2012.
The juvenile was facing two counts of murder for the deaths of Sue Day and Sherry Folts at a rural residence in Tucumcari.
Officials say the teen admitted to stabbing Folts, but says he then blacked out and doesn't remember shooting Day.
The teen pleaded guilty to both murder counts in court today.
Since he was tried as a juvenile, officials say he will be committed to the Department of Children Youth and Families Center until he's 21.
If he had been treid as an adult, he would've gotten two life sentences.
