Train on Fire Going Down Track in Eastern New Mexico

No Injuries

CURRY COUNTY - A BNSF lead locomotive caught on fire while going down the track Monday west of Cannon Air Force Base.

BNSF officials say the fire went out on its own and that no one was hurt. They also say there was no hazardous material spill.

No word on how the engine caught fire.

Spokesman Joe Sloan says the train will continue west to California with a new engine.

He says the train will be checked again when it arrives in California.
