It's the most important meal of the day but it's also getting a lot more expensive and if you are the eggs, bacon and coffee type of person, your wallet is taking the biggest hit.

CNN-Money pulled together the stats from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which shows that fresh foods on our breakfast plates have increased in price eleven percent since May of 2009.

If you look at the cost of a typical breakfast -- it has gone way up due to sickness, drought and demand.

Bacon is up 65-percent, due to a disease wiping out a piglet population earlier in the year.

Dairy products like eggs are up 33-percent, and margarine up 39-percent -- all due to the increasing demand in Asia, and big price hikes in beef and pork, experts say.

And coffee is up 40-percent due to drought in Brazil.

The one thing on your breakfast plate that has not gone up in price? Bread, which is down about one-percent.

Processed foods are also seeing less sticker shock. So if you're looking to save some money and still enjoy your breakfast, it looks like, that at least for the time being, cereal, bread and waffles are the way to go.
