After graduating from Caprock High School, he moved down to the Gulf Coast to go to school at Texas A & M University at Galveston where he spent the days watching
the sunrises over the Gulf and studying marine life. Then he realized his first love was meteorology. On several trips driving home, his respect for Texas weather grew -- he was having to drive through heavy rain, strong winds, and dazzling lightning shows as well as sunny, clear conditions.
Chris transferred to A & M's Main Campus in College Station where, on the advice of his brother Matt, he began working at the local TV station KBTX. He trained in the Weather Department under Chief Meteorologist Bob French until graduating from Texas A & M with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology. He witnessed
some of the fury of Hurricane Ike as its outer bands of rain and wind hit College Station and shut down power for many in that community.
In a chance meeting during college, Chris met KAMR NBC 4 and Fox 14 News new Chief Meteorologist John Harris. John called Chris to join the Hometown News Team once he made the switch. Chris thanks his brother and God for that blessing and is so happy to be back home to report and forecast the "crazy Panhandle
