Amarillo, Texas -
AMARILLO -- Amarillo neighborhoods are experiencing tree problems.
The first issue is Red Spider Mites which are leaf insects.
It affects the color and vigor of the leaves, and makes them look dusty.
Local expert Jake McWhorter says you can take care of it with a spray specific for spider mites.
Another destructive disease is called oak wilt.
It can kill an oak tree in about 3 to 6 weeks.
McWhorter says it's currently in the Olsen neighborhood of Amarillo.
He says if you notice it on your tree it's probably too late but there are ways to prevent it.
Oak wilt is preventable by an injection by a qualified professional.
Although there's a problem, McWhorter says it's nothing to worry about.
