Tire Blowout Causes Truck Fire

It caused $130,000 in damage

AMARILLO - The Amarillo Fire Department responds when a semi-truck catches fire. 

According to crews at the scene, at around 3 p.m. a tire on the truck blew out and caught fire. 

The driver pulled over to the side of highway 287, near Central Ave. 

Southbound lanes were shut down between US 287 and St. Francis and Hastings. Those lanes have since reopened. 

The City of Amarillo's Environmental Health Department condemned the entire load of frozen beef that the truck was carrying, resulting in a loss of $130,000.
