AMARILLO -- On August 1, APD COPPS officers following up on a tip arrested 27-year-old Brandon Michael Goldsmith.
Officers were also advised that Goldsmith was possibly in possession of stolen firearms.
Officers arrived in the 4600 block of S Virginia, observed Goldsmith taking items out of a vehicle and loading them in a backpack. The vehicle appeared to have been freshly spray painted in an attempt to disguise it.
Goldsmith was found to be in possession of a stolen debit card that was taken out of an auto burglary in early July. The vehicle that Goldsmith was seen taking items out of was reported to have been stolen in late July.
Goldsmith was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance (meth).
Officers also knock on a nearby apartment that was the subject of the original tip and spoke with occupants. Officers asked for and received consent to search the apartment and located approximately 21 grams of meth in the apartment, along with a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. No one in the apartment was arrested at this time and the investigation is on-going.
Goldsmith was transported and booked in to the Randall County Jail on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Bond Surrender warrant, and one local municipal warrant.
