Amarillo, Texas -
AMARILLO -- 2014 marks the 125th Anniversary of The Salvation Armys ministry in Texas. 2014 also marks the establishment of our Amarillo Corp office, serving our local community for 110 years in the Panhandle.
"We are so proud of the heritage and history of The Salvation Army in Texas," said Major Harvey Johnson, The Salvation Army Officer in Amarillo. "Today's Salvation Army may have adapted to serve a vastly different society from the days of Adam Janelli and William Booth, but our mission remains the same; to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name, without discrimination."
"The Salvation Army in Amarillo will be announcing Texas 125 anniversary events throughout the year," said Johnson. "I look forward to celebrating this exciting milestone with our donors, supporters and friends in the community."
