As we round out our People Helping People, Jr. program with SuddenLink Communications, we have a very special gal to recognize.  Layney miller has given freely of her time and energy for more than a year to help those in need discover a love for horses and, in turn, discover a love for themselves.

Layney has been volunteering for the last 18 months on a ranch that provides equine-assisted counseling for individuals, primarily at-risk youth. She works with many youth her own age treating them with respect and helping them with their horses with a servant-like spirit. She spends many hours of time and her own gas money earned from babysitting to travel the distance to be there and help others facing difficult circumstances. She says it does not feel like work to her, but she does everything that's asked of her. She has been a student at Ascension Academy and more recently is a senior at Amarillo High School.
