New Music Tuesday: Aloe Blacc and 311
After years of searching for his niche in the music business, Aloe Blacc has settled with as a retro-style soul singer. Lift Your Spirit is Blacc's third album that includes collaborations with Pharrell Williams and Elton John. Wake Me Up, the first single from the album, was co-written with Swedish DJ Avicci and became the number one song in 103 countries and the most-played song in Spotify history. His second single from the album, The Man, puts a twist on Elton John's lyrics from Your Song. It gained it's popularity from Dr. Dre's "Beats" headphones commercial.
The multi-platinum rock group, 311, has taken to celebrating March 11th with an arena show that draws fans from around the world, but this year it's also the occasion of their new album release, Stereolithic, the group's 11th album. This year's concert will return to New Orleans where 311 hosted their first 311 Day in 2000. Stereolithic is the band's first release since 1991.
