How to Deal with Anger in Teens

- Transitioning into the teenage years can be a difficult one for, both, parents and teens.  Belinda Palacios from Cal Farley's Boys Ranch has some tips to help deal with anger in teens.

Many issues contribute to these angry outbursts-- hormones, self-imposed expectations and outside forces like bullies, peer pressure and drug and alcohol experimentation.

Teens being angry can perpetuate the parent to be angry.  So it's important that everyone take a time out or cool down.  Parents and kids should talk about what is really going on once everyone has calmed down.  It's also important to calm it down before it hits explosion level.

Teens can calm down with physical activity, work on projects or do some sort of artistic expression.

It's important to seek professional help if the teen becomes raging or violent.
