Amazon Announces Breakout Novel Winner

In a recent contest by Amazon Publishing, about 10,000 aspiring writers submitted entries in hopes of receiving a publishing deal. In the final round, judges read a total of 11,174,385 words to choose the five 2014 finalists, which would take the average person one month of reading around the clock to complete. Now, five lucky finalists are getting their books published and one Grand Prize winner will receive a $50,000 publishing deal on July 21st.

So what makes a publisher take notice of your manuscript?  Terry Goodman, the Sr. Editorial leader of Lake Union Publishing and a judge from the Amazon contest, has some advice.
