(WWLP) Constantly checking your mailbox looking for that big envelope, or clicking the refresh button on your browser. No matter how you do it, waiting to hear back from college can take a long time, and it can be scary.
"It was pretty torturing, knowing that I only applied to one, that was like my one hope," said Kristina Derouin, a senior at Smith Vocational High School in Northampton.
Many students have their hearts set on a dream school. However, this year many announced record low acceptance rates. One thing you can do to increase you're chances: Start early.
"We want to make sure they're not going to miss any opportunities that they might have. In terms of funding financial aid, the sooner is better. The money shrinks as you go down later in the process," said Max Weider, a guidance counselor at SVHS.
