Texas Farmer Finds Mammoth Remains

- ELLIS COUNTY -- A Texas farmer and his son uncovered a rare find: an entire mammoth skeleton believed to be tens of thousands of years old.

They stumbled on the skeleton just south of Dallas.

The son and father duo farm the land and sell gravel from it.

The son was operating an excavator when he saw part of a tusk.

They contacted the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas about the find.

Paleontologists and volunteers will use the next few weeks to uncover the entire skeleton of the 9-foot Columbian mammoth.
