AUSTIN -- Texas House Speaker Joe Straus announced the appointment of Representative Ken King to the Joint Interim Committee to Study Education Policy for a Skilled Workforce.
This committee will study how career and technology education (CTE) programs can better align with those offered in Texas colleges and with the needs of Texas employers.
“There are many jobs that do not require a college degree but do require some post high school education and training. Currently the United States lags behind other countries in linking postsecondary education with the needs of the labor market. In order for Texas to close this gap, it is necessary to explore opportunities for education and workforce partnerships. I am honored that Speaker Straus has given me the opportunity to serve on this committee.” Representative King said.
Representative King served on the House Public Education Committee during the 83rd Session.
