Oso, Washington -
(NBC News) More than a week after a massive mudslide hit the rural Washington community of Oso, the search for those still missing continues.
The death toll stands at 21, but 30 other names remain on the list of those missing.
Wadding through tons of mud and toxic debris, crews of hundreds scour the massive slide-site for any signs of life, or to find mementos of lives displaced by the earth.
It's a search that is taking its toll.
"They're tired," says Bellevue Fire Department Lt. Richard Burke. "It's slow. The weather's been tough."
But they are not giving up.
"They just want to push through because they are committed to this community," Burke says.
