'Flash Bang' Explosion Sends Boy to Hospital

ECTOR COUNTY -- Ector County Deputies investigate a 'flash-bang' explosion that sends a 13-year-old boy to the hospital.

Police say it happened Sunday night around 6 near the 5400 block of West 40th Street.

We're told the boy described a device he found as a small, black tubular pipe with a screw on it and that it blew up when he tried to pick it up.

The boy's injuries to his arms, stomach and torso are not considered life threatening.

He was taken Medical Center Hospital.
