Dozens Still Missing
By Jennifer Bjorklund
(NBC News) At least 90 people are still missing in Oso, Washington, five days after a massive landslide swept away dozens of homes.
Search and rescue teams are slowly picking their way through the nearly one-square mile debris field.
"You can't look at a photograph and understand it. You can't even look at a photograph and fully understand what's happened even by watching it on TV. It's unreal," says Snohomish County Fire Chief Travis Hots.
While the death toll officially hangs at 16, many more bodies are in the field. They won't be added to the total until they can be recovered and positively identified.
Still, crews aren't giving up.
"We not changing the pace of this, and we're going to exhaust all options to try to find somebody alive," Hots says.
