Special Olympics Texas Athletes and Law Enforcement Team Up Together

AMARILLO - Donuts and law enforcement officers kind of go hand in hand.

But today, LEO's are joining hands with something else, Special Olympics Texas.
Raising money for the group's annual law enforcement torch run.

Annette Castellano, an official with Special Olympics Texas says,"This is just a great time for businesses to get to know our athletes, and the community gets to know our athletes. Once you work with our athletes you fall in love with them. The best way to get to know our organization, I can tell you all day about our organization and what we do, but when you meet the athletes you're actually able to see what we are doing."

Reggie Pierce, a Potter County Corrections Officer explained, "We have probably about 5 or 6 different agencies here and everybody is willing to help out each other and have each other's back with the community. We're all one heartbeat, one family. I think as long as we're all together we good.

They even got help from some of the athletes.

Elvis Bull, a Special Olympics athlete says, "It's been a lot of fun."

Stephanie Rainn, a Special Olympics athlete says, "We're hanging out having fun and doing something different."
