Southwest Airlines Cutting Certain Flights For Wright Amendment

- LUBBOCK, TX--- Southwest Airlines will cut flights to North Texas cities once the Wright Amendment expires in the fall of 2014.  Currently, Southwest Airlines has eight non-stop flights in and out of Amarillo. By November, Amarillo will have only five Southwest flights.

Southwest Spokeswoman Michelle Augnew said because of Southwest adding 15 new destinations in 2015 and no new aircrafts, the airline had to take a hard look at where cuts could be made and "not mess with" popular destinations.

Lubbock will continue all seven of its Southwest flights to Dallas, Austin and Las Vegas.
