AMARILLO --      One hundred area students will be getting some help from Snack Pak for Kids, because of some help from Tyson foods.
Tonight, they presented a check for $13,500, to be used to sponsor kids at highland park schools.
The program is critical in filling the food need of kids on the weekends who might not have access to a nutritious meal outside of school hours
Mike Brown, Highland Park Superintendent, "In our district itself, we have 62% of our students on the free and reduced lunch program; so, many times, the meals that they get at school may be the only meals they do get- or if they do get some at home, it may not be enough to meet their needs."
Volunteers also spent the evening packing boxes to be delivered to schools across the area this week
