Sinkhole Opens Up on Highway 60 Near Miami
By Karl Wehmhoener | firstname.lastname@example.org
MIAMI -- A sinkhole opened up in 5 miles east of Miami on Highway 60.
TxDOT is reporting the hole occurred last night between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The highway was down to one lane for about 3 hours last night.
The hole was filled and patched yesterday.
Officials believe that when the road was originally built in the 1930s they didn't use the same standards for building the road beds under the pavement.
There is some river bed sand in the dirt that gave way.
