Amarillo, Texas -
AMARILLO -- Thursday night around 8 p.m., Amarillo Police were called out to a shooting at 15th and Mirror.
Witnesses told Police that they were at the intersection when they watch one vehicle pulled away and an occupant fired shots at the car still stopped in front of theirs. One of the shots stuck their Chevrolet’s windshield, continued through the vehicle, and shattered the rear window. These two witnesses then drove away from the scene and reported the incident.
Officers went to the area of 15th and N. Mirror to locate the scene.
An officer was contacted by one person on a parking lot near the baseball fields. He told officers that he was pulling into the parking lot of the complex when the rear window of his pickup was stuck and broken. Officers believe it was hit by a shot fired during this same event.
During the investigation, police blocked off the intersection and found broken vehicle glass in the street along with a number of expended cartridge cases.
Officers still at 24th and N. Grand saw a handgun in the white Chevrolet, and seized it as possible evidence. After additional investigation, one of the witnesses was booked into jail on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant, and the other was released pending investigation.
There are no reports of injuries from this incident.
