Search in Garage Burglary and Shooting Leads to Drug and Auto Theft Arrests


AMARILLO – Early Monday morning, Amarillo Police were searching for the burglary and shooting suspects in 7900 block of Pineridge Drive.

During the search for those suspects, Amarillo Police noticed a silver 2003 Chevrolet that seemed to be prowling the area. 

Officers stopped the vehicle in the 6000 block of Landon. 

A computer check showed the vehicle as stolen from an apartment complex parking lot in the 4200 block of S. Western on June 5. The owner left the vehicle unattended and as the owner was going back to his car when he saw a female drive away in the vehicle. 

27-year-old Christopher Scott Scalici was driving the stolen car. Police search Scalici and found of drug paraphernalia and illegal drugs. 

Scalici was booked into the Randall County Jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) over one gram in a drug-free zone, possession of under two ounces of marijuana in a drug free zone, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. 

Investigators determined that a female passenger in the car, 31-year-old Melissa Ann Kennedy was the one that had originally stolen the car. She was booked into the Randall County Jail on one charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. 

There is no indication that these suspects were connected to the suspects charged in the burglary/aggravated assault. 

Police released the third passenger of the car with no charges.
