Route 66 Street Food Park Opens Up on 6th Street

At the corner of SW 6th and Alabama, the formerly used car lot is now the home to a food truck but more are coming.

Route 66 Street Food Park officially opened Wednesday after the City of Amarillo Health Department cleared the first trailer to be open.

Toby Lankford says that while there is only one truck now but there will be more soon.

"We have room for up to three or four anchor trucks in the beginning with two additional spots for nationally or regionally touring trucks in the future."

Right now, Marble Slab is open and Fire Slice Pizza is planning on setting up shop but are waiting for their truck to be completed.

Lankford told us the park is not providing the food trucks but only the space for city permitted trucks to operate.

All food trucks are required to complete all of the city's requirements to operate in Amarillo
