Road Rage Incident Leads to Stabbing

AMARILLO -- Amarillo Police responded to a called at 2415 S. Coulter on a reported stabbing. 

Police and emergency personnel found the 16-year-old victim with several stab wounds in the parking lot. 

Witnesses told police that the stabbing was the result of a road rage incident. The suspect confronted the victim in the parking lot where he assaulted the victim with a knife. The suspect then fled the scene in a yellow, compact car. 

Responding officers located the suspect vehicle as it was fleeing the scene. Officers stopped the vehicle near IH-40 and S. Georgia and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.  

The suspect is 44-year-old Bobby Wayne Shoemaker. Shoemaker was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  

Amarillo Police Department detectives are still investigating the incident.  

The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The victim's injuries are no longer considered life-threatening.
