Dumas, Texas -
AMARILLO -- The Amarillo College Board of Regents reelected its incumbent officers but a vacancy on the Board was created when longtime Regent John Hicks tendered his resignation at the May 20th Board meeting at ACs Moore County Campus in Dumas.
Hicks, a Regent since 2003 and a past chairman of the Board, cited his move from Amarillo to Pilot Point as the catalyst for his resignation.
"John Hicks provided outstanding leadership and exceptional service to Amarillo College for more than a decade," Board Chairman Don Nicholson said. "We're certainly sorry to see him go. He will be missed, but we bid him a very fond farewell and wish him nothing but the absolute best."
The Board also re-elected its current officers for another year: Nicholson as chairman, Proffer as vice chairman, and Mary Jane Nelson as secretary.
