AMARILLO -- The American Red Cross shelter at Celebration Family Church in Fritch will close as every family has located a safe place to stay.

In total, the Red Cross operated three shelters over a nine day period. Additionally, mobile feeding operations will wrap up at the end of the day today.

Officials say ending field operations is a positive sign that help is in the community and that families are taking their first steps towards recovery.

Anyone affected by the fire that hasn’t already spoken with a Red Cross caseworker is urged to call 806-376-6309 and make an appointment.

“We know that disasters are tough,” said Steve Pair, executive director, American Red Cross Texas Panhandle Chapter. “That’s why we’re committed to doing everything we can to help with what people need immediately like daily meals, safe shelters and shovels and rakes. We’re grateful to everyone who’s supported us so that we can support the families in need”.
