Public Hearing Held on Proposed City of Amarillo Tax Rate
By Ny Lynn Nichols
AMARILLO -- The City of Amarillo had a public hearing today on their proposed tax rate increase.
They're proposing raising taxes a half percent on a $100,000 household.
That translates into about $5.80 more per year.
They say they it's to hire seven police officers and more staff at animal management and welfare.
The council will decide on the budget and tax rate September 16.
