Proposed Amarillo City Budget Passes
AMARILLO -- Taxes could be going up if a proposed city budget passes.
City commissioners spent the day discussing and voting on it.
The new budget would raise taxes to 34 cents per $100 of property valuation. Meaning a person who owns a $100,000 home would pay about 3,400 dollars in taxes each year.
The money would go to pay for ten new police officers, give city employees raises and would pay to upgrade the city's computer system.
A final vote will take place next week.
