Presbyterian Home for Children/The Children's Home is Now Amarillo Children's Home

(PRESS RELEASE)

After several years of transitioning we are proud to announce that we have changed our name from Presbyterian Home for Children/The Children's Home to Amarillo Children's Home. We have a new logo featuring the "greater than" symbol and we will go by ACH.

As one of Amarillo's oldest nonprofits, conceived by a Presbyterian minister along with several civic leaders and sustained for 93 years through the generosity of this community, our history and location in the heart of Amarillo help define our identity. From the firm foundation of this history we have developed a keen understanding of our mission "to restore the identity of children so they can realize their great value and be a blessing to others." It is with confidence in both our past and our future that we boldly declare who we are.
We are Amarillo Children's Home.

At Amarillo Children's Home (ACH), we believe our children are greater than their pasts, and because their identity is being restored, their stories can be so much greater; we know our task is greater than providing food, shelter and care for the kids in our charge: we come alongside God to intentionally restore identities; and we our mindful that our reach is greater than the individual lives of those who come to live with us: our influence extends to the families of our children, to those who come into contact with our kids, and into the future as the young people form families of their own-even to their children's children.

What we accomplish at ACH is a result of a cohesive effort, because what we can do together is greater than what we can manage singly. The impact of this children's home is synergized because our kids go to Amarillo schools, work in Amarillo businesses, are active in the Amarillo community and are engaged with those who volunteer on camps. The caring adults and individuals, in conjunction with our staff, who speak into these kids' lives magnify our efforts, and the outcome is much greater than any of us could achieve on our own.

We were initially forged by this community in 1924. Because of your continued involvement and support, we have always truly been Amarillo's children's home, and we are infinitely greater because of it.

For 93 years, we have given a home and a family to children living in foster care in Amarillo. For kids age 5 up through young adults, we provide love, structure, a sense of belonging and training which allows them to give back to their community as respectful students, diligent workers and volunteers, dedicated moms and dads and honest businessmen and women.

We invite you to come to our campus 3400 S. Bowie and talk with us about all the changes happening around here. Darrin Murphy, President of Amarillo Children's Home, will be available Friday, March 10th between the hours of 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
