Potter Co. Gets a Seat on LGC Board

- AMARILLO -- The organization in charge of implementing Amarillo's downtown revitalization projects is allowing a Potter county representative on it's board.

The Local Government Corporation voted Friday to allow a non-voting member from Potter county to sit on the board.

It will be up to the county to select the member from their commissioners or judge.

Potter county has been involved in a lot of the plans for downtown revitalization but, until now had been absent from the LGC.

"We're evolving and learning along the way and you know, it's all in the spirit, very positive spirit of working together and bringing people on board and we may bring others on board as this thing continues to grow and evolve and develop."  Said Gary Pitner, LGC Board President.

Pitner says the vote has nothing to do with Potter county's upcoming vote on whether to allow Coca Cola a discounted tax rate.

That vote is seen as the final piece of the puzzle allowing the construction of the multipurpose venue.
