SCURRY COUNTY -- A Plainview man is dead after a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 84 about 12 miles northwest of Snyder Wednesday morning.
According to the DPS, Benjamin Pizano Hernandez, 48, was driving a 2006 International Truck Tracker and pulling a Beall Tanker trailer southbound on U.S. Highway 84. While driving through a curve in the roadway the vehicle veered onto the west shoulder. While taking evasive action, the load in the trailer shifted and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle and trailer rolled over to the right, went into the median, and caught fire. The truck and trailer came to rest on their right side, facing west, across the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 84 and the center median. The crash is still under investigation.
