Palace Coffee Found Patrick Burns says, "we wanted to grow and start a new location. And we've always had our eye on downtown Amarillo.
This locally owned, award-winning shop got its start in Canyon.
But Burns says this new shop, in the historic Paramount building downtown, has a different feel.
"We believe downtown Amarillo is getting ready to kind of move forward, and so we wanted to come here and be a part of that. And so if you look, you can see that it has a way different feel and look than what we did in Canyon. And that was very intentional. We wanted this place to feel like you were in kind of a more metro city," Burns said.
Joel Vaughn and his family live in Amarillo, but they've been Palace customers since its start.
"We used to go to the location in Canyon when it first opened. Our daughter was like, three months old and in a car seat. And she's just kind of grown-up in that shop, and so it's really cool to see the shop grow from what it was there to what is is today," Vaughn said, while visiting the new location with his wife and daughter.
And although what the shop is today in downtown looks a little different from the location in Canyon, the roots are still the same.
"Palace is about, outside of great coffee, we're about community and culture. We want to help provide a place where people can come and belong," Burns said.
