SPEARMAN - A child is dead and six others injured following a morning crash in Hansford County.
Just after 6 a.m., DPS was called to a one-vehicle crash this morning on SH-207, about 10 miles south of Spearman.
Troopers said a woman and six passengers were driving north of SH-207 when the woman fell asleep and veered off of the roadway.
Officials told us when the woman woke up, she overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll multiple time.
Troopers said two unrestrained children, an eight-year-old and a nine-year-old, were ejected from the vehicle.
The nine-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene, and the eight-year-old was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
A 64-year-old was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 63-year-old, 11-year-old, three-year-old, and 32-year-old driver were transported to the hospital where they were treated and released.
DPS said all occupants, other than the two children that were ejected, were properly restrained at the time of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
