AMARILLO -- For the third time in less than a month, panhandle-area residents are being warned about another phone scam.

This time, they're using a local number to get your bank information.

These types of criminals are persistent.  After one type of scam is identified, they'll move on to another one.

The scammers are texting people with a message that their debit cards are blocked.  The victims are directed to call a local number with an 806 area code to reactivate their card.

When you call the number, an automated system asks for your card number, expiration date and pin number.  But, don't do it.  Banks don't call, text or email you and ask for that information.
