oklahoma city, Oklahoma -
(KFOR) Teachers and classmates knew immediately that something wasn't quite right with a 4-year-old student at Cross Timbers Elementary in Edmond, Oklahoma.
"He seemed very lethargic; he had bloodshot eyes. And we really commend the teachers because not only were they very observant, they were proactive in finding out what was going on with this child," said Susan Parks Schelp, a spokesperson for the Edmond Public School District.
An officer, trained in drug recognition, determined the child had been exposed to marijuana.
According to police records, Sandra Martinez, the child's grandmother, and Peggy Pierman, the boy's great aunt, admitted to "smoking marijuana in the presence of the 4-year-old while he was getting ready for school."
