galveston, Texas -
(NBC News) Recovery teams are working around the clock in the Gulf of Mexico after a weekend collision between a ship and a barge carrying close to a million gallons of oil.
More than 150,000 gallons was spilled just off the Texas coast, crippling the Port of Galveston and creating a dangerous situation for the wildlife in the area.
"The shift in winds and surface currents has moved the floating oil, some of that oil is now offshore, having exited the Galveston Bay," said Coast Guard Captain Brian Penoyer.
