A Randall county grand jury decided Wednesday against indicting anyone over alleged illegal euthanasia practices.
This essentially ends the criminal investigation into Animal Control and its former leadership.
Randall county District Attorney James Farren says there were numerous, clear violations of the law at the shelter and they presented plenty of evidence to back that up.
But at the end of the day, the decision rests with the grand jury.
"I will tell you that in the grand jury, the emotions had some impact just like they had for the community. And i think people on the grand jury on both sides of the issue felt very strongly about it." Farren said.
Farren says the actions taken by the city to correct the problems at Animal Control may have also had a bearing on the grand jury's decision. That and the retirements of former Animal control director Mike McGee and former assistant director Shannon Barlow
