New guidelines are on the way for school meals, and AISD has already been cooking up changes.
"We're well positioned and ready for next school year," Brent Hoover, AISD Food Service Director said.
Changing USDA regulations have meant continued adjustments to school meals for districts around the country.
Under the newest guidelines, local kids will be required to take one fruit or vegetable at any meal they eat at school.
All bread products will go from 50 to 100 percent whole grain.
Additionally, some of the ala cart items will get slashed from the lunch line.
"There will be some things we can't offer, but we're looking for alternative products that the kids like through surverys and stuff like that," Hoover said.
But Hoover says, AISD, they knew changes were coming and tried to plan ahead.
"Since we've been ahead of that curve especially here at AISD, is that we don't, we're not going to see a big change as far as our core menu because we've been anticipating these changes for many years," Hoover said.
