New Needle Helps Ease Fears
By Chris Martin
AMARILLO -- If you're afraid of needles but need to get a flu shot, no worries. There's a new needle that's out to help ease that fear.
Pharmacy students from Texas Tech University held a special meeting to discuss a new type of needle. It's called the intradermal needle. It's much smaller than a standard one and students say it's actually less painful.
"It helps those people who are deathly afraid of needles get the flu shot and the flu's a big deal. If you get it, it can cause hospitalization and death and so we really encourage patients to get it." said student Megan Sneller
Doctors say getting the flu vaccine as soon as it becomes available each year is always a good idea, and the protection you get from the vaccination will last throughout the flu season.
