USDA to Fund Renovation of Apartment Complex in Portales

ALBUQUERQUE -- USDA Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner is presenting a certificate of obligation to the Valle Del Sol Housing Corporation tomorrow at 3 p.m.
The presentation signifies the beginning of the renovation of the apartment complex located in Portales, New Mexico.
The rehabilitation of the facility will cost $584,225 with $553,000 of the amount coming from USDA Rural Developments housing program with Valle Del Sol Housing Corporation contributing the rest of the funds to complete the funding of the renovation project.
The Valle Del Sol apartments are a farm labor multi-family apartment complex which was built in 1979. The complex consists of 18 rental units, a community building with a management office, maintenance area, and laundry facility.
The apartment complex is in real need of repair and the remodeling will include replacement of roofs, appliances, exterior doors, furnaces, evaporative coolers, stucco patching and color coat, and updating of two ADA/handicapped units to current code. The project will also include the rehabilitation and repair of the management office, maintenance area, laundry facility, and new playground equipment.
